Summary on Grant Application Form
Dynamic Angle Spinning (DAS) NMR will be developed as a structural probe of zeolites and glasses. 17o DAS NMR will be used to study the interaction between the host zeolite and guest molecules. The favourable sites for protonation in acid zeolites will be determined and the effects of adsorbed species on these sites studied by combining Cross Polarization with DAS. In glasses the T-O-T bond angle distribution will be determined in a number of systems together with the distribution of network units in some complex glasses. Differences in structure between glasses of similar composition made by different routes will be determined giving a better understanding of the relation between structure and properties in these disordered systems.
