Summary on Grant Application Form
Within this project the principal aims relate to the development and performance evaluations of synchronously-pumped parametric oscillators where their tuning ranges are extended both to the visible and to the mid-infrared spectral regions. Self-modelocked Ti:A1203 and Cr4+:YAG lasers will be used as pump sources and intra-OPO nonlinear frequency coversion will be a particular feature of the system configurations that will be studied. For the mid-infrared spectral region, difference-frequency-mixing of the outputs from a femtosecond dual-band Ti-sapphire laser will also be assessed and the performance compared to the MIR-OPO alternative.
