Summary on Grant Application Form
Historically operations have been vertically integrated or, at the other extreme, working at arms length in adversarial relationships in supply chains. More recently intermediate organisational forms such as co-makership, joint ventures and partnerships have emerged. The knowledge relating to these is spread across operations management, industrial economies, logistics and channel management, strategic management, information systems, innovation/technology management, geography and other academic areas. Despite industry recognition of the significance of networks and globalisation, and supply chain management, there has been little evidence of co-ordination of knowledge about these themes. The proposed research is to provide a state of the art picture of an under researched set of themes. The intention is to provide a platform of knowledge to identify gaps for future research in the form of a paper and a data base.
