Summary on Grant Application Form |
Previous work in my group has shown that amine oxides form strong intramolecular hydrogen bonds to hydrogen bond donors resulting in stable, crystalline non hydrated amine oxides. We propose to prepare a number of simple amine oxide substrates containing intramolecular hydrogen bonds and to incorporate these into polymers. The preformation of relatively rigid monomers should give rise to polymers of novel molecular architecture and hence physical properties.
