Summary on Grant Application Form
To develop new ultra low noise oscillators with a low residual flicker noise. Three schemes will be investigated. 1 Low Frequency Low Flicker noise amplifiers which have their gain transposed up to microwave frequencies. 2 Feedforward techniques which use low flicker noise amplifiers to cancel the effects of flicker noise. 3 Ultra high Q resonators utilising room temperature and cryogenic dielectric resonators. (Unloaded Qs in excess of twenty million can be achieved at X band).
