Summary on Grant Application Form
A fully polarisation sensitive optical time domain reflectometer (P-OTDR) will be developed, based on a novel measurement system described in this application. Polarisation backscatter results obtained with this system will then be combined with the polarisation transmission data currently being generated by the applicants and theoretically interpreted together to obtain, for the first time, the complete polarisation scattering matrices for simple and then more complex fibre transmission links and networks.
