Summary on Grant Application Form
To explore the potential of quartz crystal shear wave generators coated with bioreactive hydrogel layers as sensors for metabolite and other components in blood. To study the effects of surface biofouling and through model-based strategies for gel coating, to develop sensors which exhibit minimal interference from these effects. To explore the ability of the sensors to interrogate gel-entrapped whole cells through viscoelastic changes following environmental insult.
