My case for the visit to this workshop is that the topic is of considerable interest and concern to the UK - to the EPSRC as it enters a new phase concurrently with the beginning of the EU Framework IV Programmes, starting HPIP, considering the new R&D programmes in MNA and IMI-Telecommunications, and in which information superhighway-related research is going to be an area of large demand from the research community; to the UK research community itself; and to JISC, which is funding research concerned with SuperJANET applications. There is also likely to be network infrastructure information emerging from the workshop that would be of interest to UKERNA and to the HE community involved in SuperJANET-related research.I would produce a workshop summary and appropriate briefing notes for the research community and the EPSRC respectively. Presumably these notes could also be made available to the JISC and UKERNA as required. I anticipate that dissemination would also take place within working group meetings of MNA, IMI-T, HPIP steering group and other meeting which I would be attending.
