Summary on Grant Application Form
There is an urgent need in the Chemistry department in Manchester for a medium field NMR spectrometer to replace two old 300 Mhz spectrometers which are unreliable and unable to provide the service required. The new instrument will fulfil two roles. It will provide a service to under-pin the research being carried out synthetic organic and inorganic chemistry together with mechanistic studies in organic and bioinorganic chemistry. It will also be used in the development of new methods for the aquiition and analysis of NMR spectra. Support is requested for an autosampler so the instrument can be used with maximum efficiency overnight. During the day, a technician will run the intrument carrying out multinuclear work, 2D-experiments, variable temperature experiments etc.
