The fabrication of light emitting diodes and photodetectors at wavelengths > 2m for infra-red gas detection, particularly methane (3.3m) and H2S (2.7m). The preparation of mixed composition III-V thick epitaxial layers for overgrowth by MBE and MOVPE of strain free heterojunctions and MQW structures. A comparison of the MBE, MOVPE and LPE growth techniques for long wavelength optoelectronic devices.
