Summary on Grant Application Form
A demonstrator system will be developed which is capable of both edge trimming and the cutting out of motifs from embroidered fabrics. A combination of a laser cutter and a seam follower will ensure the speed and quality of cut. The positioning system will be constructed from an XYZ gantry which has been modified to give retro-cutting and a 360 degree rotation of the cutting device. The result from the research will give design criteria for the development of a prototype industrial machine.
