Summary on Grant Application Form
In this proposal we seek support for a computer controlled automatic data aquisition system for the Fabry Perot interferometer we use to carry out high resolution Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) studies of spin wave modes in ultrathin films. This combined support will greatly increase the effectiveness of our current research programmes by: (i) allowing more detailed information to be extracted from our RHEED, LEED, Magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE) and BLS measurements; (ii) allowing numerical simulations of domain structure, magnetic reversal processes and spin wave modes in our structures; (iii) data aquisition under computer control.
