Summary on Grant Application Form
The Laser Engineering for Manufacturing Applications (LEMA) project is a collaborative programme involving three university groups and a number of companies, aimed at developing new device and process technology for advanced industrial material processing. Each group eill uindertake generic research in its own area (Laser, Fibre Optic, and Process) while collaborating in a series of application-specific projects. The Fibre Optics Stream will concentrate on research into optical fibres, fibre optic components and systems for (i) high quality beam delivery and (ii) the development of fibre optic techniques for sensing and measurement in processing applications , including process monitoring, safety checking and position measurement.
