Summary on Grant Application Form
The theory of atomic, molecular and optical collissions and structure physics pervades and underpins much of modern physics, whether astrophysics, high energy physics, condensed matter physics, physical chemistry, laser physics, upper atmosphere physics, plasma physics etc, and as such continues to represent new fundamental science. Our rolling programme comprises: (1) Theory of positron and electron impact on atoms and ions; (2) single photon processes for ions and atoms; (3) Wannier and non-Wannier electron impact threshold ionisation of atoms and ions; (4) light particle impact on molecules, including polyatomics; (5) heavy particle collissions between ions and atoms including rearrangement; (6) application in laser physics, plasma physics and upper atmosphere physics; (7) multiphoton processes in intense laser fields for complex ions and atoms.
