Summary on Grant Application Form
1. The development of rational routes to resolved optically active transition-metal complexes showing second-order non-linear optical effects.2. Crystallographic analysis of potential NLO complexes to ensure that multiple si occupation does not lead to unfavourable pairing of molecular dipoles.3. Determination of the NLO properties of the new complexes by Prof D Bloor (Dept Applied Physics, University of Durham).4. The use of chiral alkylidynes as reagents for the systematic synthesis of resolved chiral clusters to determine whether these systems exhibit second-order NLO properties.
