Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed project will use the CFB combustor developed under SERC grant GR/F92039. The combustor can operate in airstaged mode and with independent conrol of bed temperature, excess air level, superficial gas velocity, solids circulation rate and degree of sir staging. Secondary air injection hieight can also be varied. The upper operating temperature is approx 950 C. This is the only high temperature CFB facility in UK universities, and is one of only a handful worldwide.
