It is proposed that injection locking of active patch antennas be studied with reference to regenerative frequency division and multiplication for applications as mm-wave transponders. The transponders would automatically generate a phase encoded identification when illuminated by a mm-wave beacon signal applied at one of three conditions (i) at a sub-harmonic (ii) at the fundamental frequency and (iii) at a super-harmonic. Physical demonstrators will be constructed and measured in order to illustrate the concepts involved.
