Summary on Grant Application Form
1. Obtain experimental data on dispersion separation in plate separators and structured packing under steady and transient flow conditions. 2. Extend and validate design models using experimental data. 3. Develop monitoring systems for in situ measurement in two phase mixtures. 4. Evaluate alternate designs with potential space and weight savings. (1) Evaluation of various composite formulations (Newcastle). (2) Fabrication of suitable composites for environmental testing in wet gas mixtures containing hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide (UMIST). (3) Fabrication of composite sheets with sensors embedded in the surface layer and electrical connections taken through the sandwich layer (Newcastle). (4) Fabrication of a small channel to mimic plates on a plate pack and testing to monitor changes in phase continuity, flow structures, etc. (UMIST).
