Summary on Grant Application Form
There are two main objectives to our programme, the first is to assist in the development of the Radioactive Ion Source Test-bed facility at the Rutherford Laboratory. This is a project with a high priority in the Nuclear Physics community and we intend to offer as much support as we are able. In order to get an indication of potential problems for gamma-ray experiments using radioactive beams we have joined a collaboration which is already planning experiments at the radioactive beam facility at Louvain-la-Neuve. The second aim of our work is to continue investigations into the symmetries underlying nuclear structure. We propose experiments using various facilities around the world (including the ANU, Strasbourg, ILL and Brookhaven) to continue our investigations into nuclei in the rare-earth region.
