Summary on Grant Application Form
1. To measure the motion responses for 1:100, 1:50, 1:25 and 1@10 scale models for a third generation standby vessel ( Grampian Orcades ) in extreme waves (irregular, both long and short crested). 2. To measure the motion responses for the Grampian Orcades , using a 6 degree of freedom motion measuring packages, whilst on station during winter storms at the North Alwyn platform. 3. To compare measured motion responses (and extreme predictions) and to examine the effects of scale. (1) Model construction. (2) Design of experiment rigs. (3) Offshore measurements. (4) Construction of experiment rigs. (5) Analysis of experimental results. (6) Model tests at Heriot Watt University. (7) Model tests at Wallingford. (8) Model tests at DeVoorst (Delft). (9) Comparison of results and predictions.
