Summary on Grant Application Form
To determine for the first time:1. The relative contributions of vibrational and translational/rotational modes to the transport properties of a molecular gas. To do this, firstly, for N2 gas in the range 300K-3000K and then for important mixtures, eg, rare gas/N2 and air.2. The relative contributions of the vibrational and translational/rotational modes of a molecular gas to the Knudsen accommodation coefficient. To do this, firstly, for N2 gas interacting with a tungsten surface at temperatures up to 3000K.
