1.The investigation of the molecular and electronic structure of dimethylsulphoxide reductase from Rhodobacter capsulatus in a range of oxidation levels using X-ray absorption spectroscopy, continuous wave and pulsed EPR, NMR, mass spectrometry to complement the determination of the enzyme structure by single crystal X-ray diffractiion.2. Studies of the molybdenum cofactor isolated from this enzyme.3. Synthesis of the molybdenum cofactor and incorporation into enzmye.4. Introduction of specific isotopic labelling into synthesised cofactor to advance the spectroscopic the spectroscopic studies of the nature and function of the cofactor.
