Summary on Grant Application Form |
1) This proposal is aimed at investigating quasi particle transport in mesoscopic superconducting structures. The effect on Andreev scattering or order parameter phase variations, normal disorder and inelastic scattering will be described.2) A second area of work includes simulations which investigate the structure and dynamics of complex fluids. The influence of molecular structure and flexibility on the phase behaviour of model thermotropic liquid crystals and micellar structures will be studied. Idealised models of ferroelectric liquid crystal phases will be investigated.
