This programme of work has as its main objective the design and fabrication of visible light emitting diodes (LEDs) in the AlInGaP system. The programme includes the optimisation of device technology and the control of the frequency by band gap engineering. Devices will be characterised by electrical and optical techniques and the programme completed with detailed reliability studies.
