-To carry out computer simulation studies on the structure and growth of films of discotic liquid crystals, including the use of 'real time graphical display.-To develop theoretical understanding to enable the design of novel self-organising systems.-To provide statistical mechanical analysis in conjunction with computer modelling to aid the design and interpretation of scattering and atomic probe experimentation on complex fluid phenomena.
