To develop and exploit a new method for the formation of the closed cage carbon molecules known as fullerness, discovered recently by the applicant. To investigate the potential of the method for the encapsulation of elements within the cages, and to undertake hydrogen exchange studies of the hydrogenated cages and precursors.
