Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of the project is to produce a model for the IGBT in its electrical and thermal circuit environment that includes all relevant physical processes, is dynamic and can be used by power circuit designers for the accurate prediction of performance. The starting point will be an existing device simulator, which presently contains a transient and thermal capability for the device itself. Within this project it will be extended electrically to include circuit elements, and thermally to include various heat sink configurations. The thermal and electrical interactions within both circuit and power device will then be accounted for in a fully self consistent manner. The resulting package will then be validated against carefully chosen test circuits provided by industrial partners.
