To look at ways of increasing the capacity of a spread spectrum mobile radio system, with particular emphasis on practical solutions which could be implemented in the near future.Progress:The project has started to focus on the adaptive filter field. An FIR adaptive filter appears to be able to provide resistance to co-channel interference and thus high capacity. Adaptive filters can also equalise the time-varying mobile channel and have a low complexity when compared with joint detection and cancellation schemes. Work continues into the interaction between the co-channel interference and the equalisation functions and the selection of the adaptive algorithm.Reference:D.G.M.
