Summary on Grant Application Form
In the present programme novel precursors for binary II/VI and III/VI materials will be developed. The precursors will be based on thio- or seleno-carbamates, and related mixed complexes with metal alkyls or bulky thiolates. Materials of particular interest include CdS, ZnSe, and the various forms of MIIIEII (M = Gas or In, E = S or Se).x yThe precursors will be used for the low temperature growth of the above materials as thin films by MOCVD at reduced pressure. Materials grown will be characterised by a wide range of methods including: ESAX, electron and x-ray diffraction, electronic and x-ray spectroscpies and electrical measurements. Characterisation facilities are available in house or via well established collaborative arrangements.
