This work represents a logical extension of previous SERC funded work to improve the technology base and product quality of rotationally moulded products. In the proposed programme of work a closed loop process control system will be developed in order to automate the machine cycle using information from inside the rotating mould; optimise heating and cooling rates using this information; control the wall thickness distribution in a desired fashion; identify and control the factors which influence tolerances; quantify the effects of mould temperature control as a means of modifying wall thickness distribution and identify and control the factors causing warpage/distortion of rotomoulded products.
