Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed project is concerned with the development of a computer model for studying problems involving the interaction between electromagnetic fields and charged particles. The model will be based on the transmission line modelling (TLM) method. Field-particle interactions are fundamental to a diverse range of problems. We will, therefore, develop a model which can be applied generally. The model will be used to study transient effects in conventional and novel vacuum tubes used as high-power, broad bandwidth microwave and millimetre wave sources.
