Summary on Grant Application Form
This research involves identifying, through an extensive programme of simulation testing, the power electronics-based series compensation, and tap-changing and phase-shifting transformer topologies which are capable of achieving their fundamental frequency operating state with minimum harmonic distortion whilst, at the same time, being able to enhance considerably the dynamic security of the power network by improving both the first swing transient stability and the damping of system oscillations.
