Summary on Grant Application Form
The programme is proposed in order to explore the efficacy of production of modulated (layered) alloy electrodeposits from a single solution containing ions of both metals by varying a process parameter such as agitation or potential or by using pulsed current. (The principle is not new but it has never been previously established at a production scale because each solution has its own characteristics). Several alloy systems will be studied in depth in order to yield deposits having improved corrosion and/or wear properties. Both composition and structural modulation will be explored.
