Summary on Grant Application Form
The project will initially involve the dynamic analysis, simulation and optimisation of the Biome 'to-make' ordering model. The model has been developed using steady state design. Although good results are claimed, the dynamic behaviour of the model has not been studied. A number of other ordering systems also make use of work in progress (WIP) feedback. The dynamic performance of the model and its derivatives will be appraised and the advantages/disadvantages of using WIP and adaptive lead-time estimation determined. The application of the model to other market sectors and supply chains will be investigated. Proven and better control will become available to management consultants and operations directors alike. These controls will directly contribute to business competitiveness with direct impact on the 'bottom line' via reduced stock level and production on-costs.
