Summary on Grant Application Form
In the 4 years since it was formed the IRC in Superconductivity has undertaken research of a very high standard and has made a considerable contribution to the body of knowledge in this subject over a wide range. In so doing, it has become an effective national focus and has increasingly been winning support from industry. As described in the accompanying 'case for support', the IRC has modified and extended the programme to place a greater emphasis on applications without undermining the core and quality of its basic research. To achieve this aim, a modest expansion of staff and equipment is necessary.
