The study of cyclic variability in combustion in a spark ignition engine at part load and its contribution to unburned hydrocarbon emissions. The contribution of physical processes - injection timing and rate, air swirl and turbulence - on the generation of unburned hydrocarbon during ignition delay in a Direct Injection Diesel Engine.
