1) To investigate the use of SQUIDs as ultra low-noise signal detectors in low-field magnetic resonance imaging. 2) To develop optimised liquid helium Dewars to house SQUIDs in MRI applications. 3) To develop electronics for the optimum use of SQUIDs as signal detectors in MRI. 4) To investigate the use of arrays of SQUID detectors in order to increase the field-of-view of a SQUID-based NMR imager.
