Summary on Grant Application Form
To design and construct confocal microscopes using visible and infrared light and ultrasonic waves with displayed spatial resolutions of down to 10 mm; to use the microscopes to scan thick histological specimens, particularly breast tissue, to display the three-dimensional images and to investigate their clinical potential; and to develop phantoms to provide experimental data to test theoretical analyses of performance.
