To investigate near-wake flows using numerical simulations together with closely matched experiments. To develop more thorough understanding of such flows and hence via calculation of the various in terms of the Reynolds stress transport equations, to assess where current closure models are faulty and suggest improvements. To develop from experiment a more thorough understanding of the intermediate and far zones of wake flows and again to assess where current closure models are faulty and suggest improvements.
