The main work is to design the shape of a preform which will produce an injection blow moulded plastic container of specified shape. This will involve finite element analysis of the way in which a plastic preform is transformed by inflation/stretching into the shape of a mould. In order to check this analysis, experimental work will be conducted using an injection moulding machine (for the preforms) and a blowing station. The quality of the end product will also be of prime interest relative to the proposed function of the container.
