Summary on Grant Application Form
i)To make detailed measurements of pollutant formation (NOx related species and particulate concentrations), major species concentration and gas temperature in the ICSTM furnace fired with HFO.ii)To construct a validated mathematical model of heavy fuel oil combustion which is capable of predicting with useful precision the emissions of NOx and particulates.iii) To use this model to determine geometries and operating conditions which minimise combined NOx and particulates emissions from a typical industry-type burner.iv) To deduce, with the aid of the predictions of the model, physical explanations for burner emissions behaviour from which useful and general design rules and strategies be extracted.
