Summary on Grant Application Form
The research aims to develop a new generation of passive microwave devices, based on thin films of high temperature superconductors and related materials. Fundamental and applied studies of the relationship between device performance and thin film deposition parameters, of thin film growth processes, and of the microwave properties of materials will be undertaken. The results of these studies will be instrumental to collaborative programmes with industrial and academic partners, so contributing to the economic and intellectual competitiveness of the UK. Participation in the work of the regional development programmes is seen as a way of disseminating knowledge to the wider community in addition to publication in academic journals and participation in international meetings.
