The UK Nanomagnetism Network was formed in January 2001 with a goal of promoting the co-ordination of fundamental research on nanomagnetic clusters, particles and grains in the UK. Its primary goal is to provide an inclusive forum for workers from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines, encompassing both the bottom-up and top-down approaches to nanoscale materials synthesis, and the full scope of interparticle interactions from isolated to strongly interacting. The Network has proved to be very popular. It has brought together the leading academic groups in the field and provided opportunities for networking via a programme of Network Meetings and Workshops.At this time the Network is organising the forthcoming International Conference on Fine Particle Magnetism. This is a prestigious triennial meeting that attracts attention from nanomagnetism specialists all over the world. The ICFPM is to be held in London on 20-22 Septembver 2004. Our target is for a meeting with 75 delegates, of which 50 are UK resident members of the Nanomagnetism Network, including 25 UK students. The funds requested will allow us to both keep the registration fees to manageable levels, to waive those fees for those delegates that are members of the Nanomagnetism Network, and to offer a 75 contribution towards travel and subsistence for all UK participants.
