Summary on Grant Application Form |
The ultra wide band channel behaviour is poorly understood and there is little well documented data available far research into future systems. Furthermore, without this knowledge the design and implementation of these systems employing ultra wide band techniques cannot be optimised. This work endeavours to make a well documented investigation and record of the behavior of radio propagation for frequencies from 3 GHz up to 10GHz and make available this data to the research community. The data will include a complete description of the measurement conditions and environment so that a valid and structured investigation into the optimum signal processing parameters and channel modelling can be undertaken . Once this resource is established, we and our collaborators will seek to establish optimal signal processing techniques for a number of target applications from ultra wide band radio imaging to communications systems for wireless local area networks. The work will also contribute to future standardisation.
