This proposal for a Visiting Professorship will enable Professor Sammer to visit the UK in between January and April 2004. During his visit he will be based at the Centre for Transport Studies at Imperial College London but will visit the Centre for Transport Studies at University College London, the Transport Studies Group at the University of Westminster, the Transport Operations Research Group at the University of Newcastle, the Transport Research Group at the University of Southampton and the Transport Research Institute at Napier University. The focus of his visit will be research on travel behaviour and transport sustainability, and the objective will be mutual familiarisation with ongoing cognate activity, leading to deeper interaction between the UK and Austria on research of common interest. During his visit, he will give a public lecture at Imperial College.
