Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research will deal with elliptic PDEs, acting on maps of a fixed homotopy type from one manifold to another. Study of these equations is motivated by some problems from geometry and mathematical physics, as well as by the general logic of developments of partial differential equations. The research will be mostly concerned with the general theory of the equations. Such a theory practically does not exist now, and a review paper, written by the PI and his PhD student (suggested as the RA) is one of a very few publications on this subject. The PI plans to address a number of specific questions, described in the Case for Support, and next to apply the results obtained to study geometry of the manifolds as well as some problems from traditional PDE.
