Summary on Grant Application Form |
This research programme will involve the synthesis of the hitherto poorly described silinones. Novel silinones will be prepared and their general chemistry will be investigated including their conversion into amino acids. Photoaddition of the silinones to pyrrolines will be investigated allowing a rapid entry into the kainate skeleton. A synthesis of domoic acid will be undertaken which will involve a rearangement/silicon mediated fragmentation cascade as a key step.
