Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed programme of work seeks to provide insight into the fundamental chemistry of the thermal processir solid fuels (particularly biomass). Using a combination of model systems, sophisticated spectroscopic, microscopic, analytical techniques, and chemical modelling, the sub-processes that a fuel particle undergoes during the processing will be probed at a molecular level. In particular, the role, behaviour and fate of certain catalytic metal, Ca, Fe) will be studied, in order to understand and to enable modelling of the impact of such metals on the macro scale
