Summary on Grant Application Form |
There is a striking similarity between non-equlibrium thermal aging in spin glasses, noisy systems and biological evolution which is probably rooted in shared general properties of metastable systems with multiple attractors. The over all aim is thus to explore the universality of non-equlibrium relaxation dynamics in systems with multiple metastable configurations , whether biological motivatede - as the Tangled Nature Model - or of physical origin, as e.g. aging in glasses. These investigations will contribute to a general mesoscopic description of complex systems developed from a detailed analysis of microscopic properties of configuration space geometry and real space morphology of the specific systems
