Summary on Grant Application Form |
Over the last few years there has been substantial interest in bioinformatics, and significant advances in areas such as DNA sequencing and analysis of micro-arrays. In other areas, however, there are many open problems. The primary structure of a protein is defined by the sequence of amino acids, but it is not yet possible to predict the secondary and tertiary structure, that is how the protein folds up. This workshop will focus on research on protein structure prediction and in particular statistical and geometrical approaches. The invited speakers have made notable contributions to the subject and will give a mixture of substantial review and cutting edge presentations. There will be contributed talks, posters and informal discussion. The workshop will provide an opportunity for interaction between experts and new researchers, including research students and researchers from other scientific disciplines.
